Weigh stations are a feature in the 18 Wheels of Steel series, Euro Truck Simulator 2 (Road to the Black Sea DLC only) and American Truck Simulator. Weigh stations are used to weigh trucks.

18 Wheels of Steel Edit

18 Wheels of Steel: Across America is the first 3D animated trucking simulator by SCS Software to feature weigh stations. They are scattered on highways in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The driver is always recommended to pull in for a vehicle inspection at the nearest weigh station.

American Truck Simulator Edit

American Truck Simulator is the first trucking simulator to feature weigh stations and can be found along freeways and roads, either alone or in a truck stop. The player can only use them if there's a message on their Route Advisor.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 Edit

Weigh stations in Euro Truck Simulator 2 first appeared in the Road to the Black Sea DLC. They can be found in toll gates (and one at the D110 between İstanbul and Tekirdağ) in Turkey and in border crossings between Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey while the player is entering or at the border. The rest of the game doesn't feature any weigh stations as the Road to the Black Sea DLC being the first expansion to feature weigh stations in Euro Truck Simulator 2. The player can only use them if they have a trailer attached to their truck and the pre-pass, which is not installed on trucks in ETS2, will always notify them to pull in for an inspection from their Route Advisor (weigh stations at border crossings will not trigger the pre-pass).

18 Wheels of Steel Edit

American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 Edit

If a driver does not stop at a weigh station when required, the driver has to pay a fine of $600.

Trivia Edit

  • The speed limit of the weigh station is 15 mph despite the overhead signs saying 5 mph for empty and 3 mph for loaded.
  • Weigh stations don't offer penalties for being overweight - fines only occur if the player doesn't stop at a weigh station.
  • Bypassing a weigh station when you have a red light is called Flying the Coop and you can face serious fines if you fail to stop. First offence they will fine you $600. You will get $700 and they will issue you a ticket if you do it on your second offence. If you do it on your third offence the weigh station will spawn a state trooper and you will be pulled over and you will get a $1400 fine.
