"One of the world's most powerful countries has an area of 243,610 square km. The capital city is London an important financial and cultural centre. Unlike most countries in the world, British traffic drives on the left. Also, miles are used instead of kilometres." |
The United Kingdom is a country in Western Europe, featured in Euro Truck Simulator (Gold Edition), UK Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
As an island nation, it is not connected by land to the rest of Europe, and can only be accessed by ferries or trains through the Channel Tunnel. It shares border with Ireland (via Northern Ireland), but it is not shown.

The "Drive on left" sign
The United Kingdom is different from most countries in Europe, as it is being one of the very few countries to drive on the left. It is also the only country in the game with speed limits in miles per hour. The United Kingdom is home to one of the most northern territories in the game known as Scotland. In addition, the speed limit of 97 km/h (60 mph) on British motorways is the second-highest in the game behind Bulgaria and Romania tied, which have speed limits of 100 km/h (62 mph), and as other countries have speed limits of 80 km/h (50 mph) or 90 km/h (56 mph).
Much like the majority of places in the base and Going East maps, the United Kingdom's quality and freshness is alarmingly poor, especially when one takes a trip around newer map expansions such as Road to the Black sea or Beyond the Baltic Sea. This is probably due to the fact that the ETS2 map of the United Kingdom is imported from the UKTS one, and that may explain why it has a slightly worse look than Visegrád Group 4 countries.
Accessible Cities[]
In Euro Truck Simulator (Gold Edition), only Dover, London, Manchester and Newcastle-upon-Tyne were featured, with the latter three having depots.
Later, SCS released UK Truck Simulator, and expanded the UK map to include more cities, including three Scottish and two Welsh cities. This map became the basis of the UK map in Euro Truck Simulator 2, where SCS made only minor modifications. Port facilities were added and a few locations were rationalized, resulting in 20 accessible British cities and towns (comparable to Germany in the original game), 4 of which with ferry (or rail) links to other countries. Interestingly, all port towns are in England.
The following table shows all accessible British cities and towns in ETS2:

Roads[]
Despite not having the most number of cities featured in ETS2, the United Kingdom has the largest number of roads featured in that game. In total, 19 Motorways and 21 "A roads" are featured in UK Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The following list also includes the M20, a motorway featured in the first Euro Truck Simulator but not the subsequent games.

License Plates[]

Textures used in game - old on left, new on right.
While not receiving any map changes since the release of the game, license plates have received minor changes. Current England, Scotland and Wales vehicle registrations are unique to most European counterparts, in that the numbers directly represent the year of first registration, meaning as the game has aged, new numbers have been added. A more significant change was made in April 2022, where the texture used for the plate was edited to have a flag of the United Kingdom instead of the European Union, to reflect changes made IRL in September 2021.
