U.S. Route 87 (US 87) is a north-south US Highway across Texas, in northeastern New Mexico, central Colorado, eastern Wyoming, and central Montana in American Truck Simulator. In-game, the route exists in five sections: first from Port Lavaca, TX, to Victoria; from Victoria to Interstate 10 east of San Antonio; from San Angelo to Lubbock; from Amarillo to Sheridan, much of this section concurrent with Interstate 25; and through downtown Sheridan to Havre, with a concurrency with Interstate 90.
In real life, US 87 runs 1,998 miles (3,215 km) between Port Lavaca, TX, and Havre, MT.
Course[]
US 87 begins at SH 35 in Port Lavaca, Texas, and runs northwest a short distance to US 59 at Victoria, where there's a small gap in the highway. US 87 resumes at US 77, in the north of Victoria, and continues on to San Antonio, where the second section ends at Interstate 10. The third section begins at US 277 south of San Angelo, and after passing through the city, winds northwest to Lubbock (where it meets US 62, 82, and 84, and Interstate 27; along the way it intersects with Interstate 20 at Big Spring and US 180 at Lamesa. The fourth section begins at Interstate 40 in Amarillo, and, concurrent with US 287, runs north to Dumas, where the 87 breaks to the west. Turning northwest, the highway passes through Dalhart (where it intersects with US 54) and soon after enters New Mexico, where, at Clayton, it begins running concurrent with US 64.
US 87 runs concurrent with US 64 to Raton, then with Interstate 25 across Colorado and as far as the Interstate's northern terminus in Wyoming, where the 87 begins running concurrent with Interstate 90. US 87 briefly leaves I-90 at an unseen intersection and joins US 14 in southern Sheridan. The two run in concurrence through the downtown, before rejoining I-90 at exit 20. The 87 continues along I-90 as far as Billings, Montana, where it begins running northward along its own course. After climbing out of Billings, the 87 crosses the Bull Mountains, where it intersects with Old Divide Road, which provides access to the Signal Peak coal mine. Shortly after, the highway runs through Roundup, where it has a brief concurrency with US 12, and continues to a junction with MT 19 and MT 200. The 87 continues westward, running concurrent with the 200 through Lewistown, where US 191 follows the highways briefly as far as Eddies Corner. The 87 proceeds across the plains of Montana and meets US 89 at Armington Junction, where there is a rest area with a weigh station. The highways run together to Great Falls, where US 87 breaks away from the 89 and the 200 to run north through town. After crossing the Missouri River above Black Eagle Falls and passing through the town of Black Eagle, the highway runs northeast along the Missouri. After crossing the Marias River and passing through the town of Big Sandy, the highway terminates at Havre, where it meets US 2.
