A state is a constituent political entity of the United States.

There are currently 50 states, which are bound together in a union with each other. Each state holds governmental jurisdiction over a defined geographic territory and shares its sovereignty with the United States federal government.

In American Truck Simulator, states serve as the subdivision of the job market (whereas Europe is divided into Countries). There are currently 17 states, with a combined land area of 1,714,417 square miles (4,440,320 km2):

Information on packs[]

When asked if there will be groups of states at some point, SCS Dev Eryk replied that, "...there will be packs of states when we reach states that are too small to be released as single DLC." As of April 2025, this has not yet happened. However, in the Kansas release stream, SCS Dev Patrik confirmed that Tennessee would be bundled with at least one other state, due to its shape.
