A state is a constituent political entity of the United States.
There are currently 50 states, which are bound together in a union with each other. Each state holds governmental jurisdiction over a defined geographic territory and shares its sovereignty with the United States federal government.
American Truck Simulator[]
In American Truck Simulator, states serve as the subdivision of the job market (whereas Europe is divided into Countries). There are currently 15 states, with a combined land area of 1,662,400 square miles (4,305,596 km2):
- Arizona (released on the 6th of June, 2016, alongside update 1.3)
- Arkansas (released on the 16th of September, 2024, alongside update 1.51)
- California (released on the 2nd of February, 2016, alongside the launch of the game)
- Colorado (released on the 12th of November, 2020, alongside update 1.39)
- Idaho (released on July 16, 2020, alongside update 1.38)
- Kansas (released on the 30th of November, 2023, alongside update 1.49)
- Montana (released on the 4th of August, 2022, alongside update 1.45)
- Nebraska (released on the 16th of May, 2024, alongside update 1.50)
- Nevada (released on the 2nd of February, 2016, alongside the launch of the game)
- New Mexico (released on the 9th of November, 2017, alongside update 1.29)
- Oklahoma (released on the 1st of August, 2023, alongside update 1.48)
- Oregon (released on the 4th of October, 2018, alongside update 1.32)
- Texas (released on the 15th of November, 2022, alongside update 1.46)
- Utah (released on the 7th of November, 2019, alongside update 1.36)
- Washington (released on the 11th of June, 2019, alongside update 1.35)
- Wyoming (released on the 7th of September, 2021, alongside update 1.41)

There are currently three states known to be in progress or in development:
- Iowa (confirmed, in development, to be released soon)
- Missouri (confirmed, in development, to be released soon)
These are the states that might come in the near future:
- Illinois (likely to be confirmed, based on the road signs and assets found in update 1.50)
- Louisiana (likely to be confirmed, based on the road signs and assets found in update 1.50)
Time Zones[]
The image below shows the time zones that the current ATS states and the in-development ATS states are in. Pacific time is GMT-8, Mountain is GMT-7, and Central is GMT-6. Eastern time zone (not shown yet) is GMT-5.
Information on packs[]
When asked if there will be groups of states at some point, SCS Dev Eryk replied that, "...there will be packs of states when we reach states that are too small to be released as single DLC." As of October 2024, this has not yet happened.
