South Dakota is a state of the United States which will be featured in an upcoming map expansion DLC in American Truck Simulator.
The state is bordered by North Dakota to the north, Minnesota to the east, Iowa to the southeast, Nebraska to the south, Wyoming to the southwest, and Montana to the northwest.
Release history[]
- 3 April 2025: In the Missouri release stream, Pavel hinted at South Dakota being in development. Despite this, the state at that time was currently rumored, because there wasn't an official confirmation post for the DLC.
- 25 May 2025: SCS Software YouTube teaser about the release of South Dakota, "Reaching The Middle" in Belle Fourche, the geographic center of the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii).
- 7 June 2025: A blog post to officially announce that South Dakota will be the next state after Illinois with a few new screenshots,[1] alongside the release of its dedicated Steam Store page.[2]
- 6 August 2025: A blog post about the team behind South Dakota.[3]
- 3 September 2025: A blog post about the truck stops in South Dakota.[4]
- 23 September 2025: A blog post about the grasslands and forests in South Dakota.[5]
- 7 October 2025: A blog post about the settelements in South Dakota.[6]
