Powell's Trail Description To unlock the achievement "Powell's Trail", the player must visit six Colorado River sights in Arizona. The Colorado River in Arizona traces from Utah to the north and runs through the Glen and Grand Canyons in the northern and center areas of the state. The river then runs along the state borders of Nevada and California to the west until reaching Mexico to the state's southwesternmost point. The IS10 crossing the river in Ehrenberg. The IS40 crossing the river southwest of Kingman. The IS11 and US93 crossing the river southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. At the Grand Canyon north of Grand Canyon Village. At an unmarked parking area at the US89 southwest of Page. Trivia The achievement is named after John Wesley Powell[1], an American geologist. After losing an arm while serving in the American Civil War, Powell became a geology professor, and set out in various expeditions of the American West in the late 1860's. In 1869, he gathered nine men, four boats, and enough food to last 10 months, and set off down the Green River from the town of Green River in Wyoming. Southwest of the present day town of Moab, the party followed the Colorado River to its confluence with the Virgin River, east of present day Las Vegas. This expedition included the first government-sponsored passage of the Grand Canyon, which was first named such by Powell, who also named Glen Canyon.
