Leningrad Oblast (Russian: Ленинградская область) is a Russian Oblast situated in nortwesterner region of the country. This Oblast is bordered by Republic of Karelia to the north, Vologda Oblast to the east, Novgorod Oblast to the southeast, and Pskov Oblast to the south. Lenigrad Oblast also border Finland to the northwest and Estonia to the southwest. Capital of the Oblast is Saint Petersburg, despite this Saint Petersburg officialy is not part of Leningrad Oblast rather being city under federal jurisdiction (other being Moscow).

Trivia Edit

  • Name of the Oblast comes from Leningrad, past name for Saint Petersburg which was used in period from 1924 to 1991. While name of the city was changed following the fall of Soviet Union the name of the Oblast remained unchenged.
