Illinois is a state of the United States, which is featured in the 18 Wheels of Steel series and will be featured in American Truck Simulator as a map expansion DLC.

The state is bordered by Wisconsin to the north, Lake Michigan to the northeast, Indiana to the east and southeast, Kentucky to the south and Iowa and Missouri to the west.

Release History[]

  • 22 June 2023: The Flag of Illinois is added to the map editor in the update 1.48 Open Beta.
  • 9 April 2024: Gas station assets abbreviated with "IL" are found in the map editor in the experimental beta of update 1.50.[1]
  • 31 January 2025: SCS Software posted a teaser about a new state on their social media accounts under the name, "Reaching The End".[2] The post strongly hints towards Illinois as the new state.
  • 11 February 2025: A blog post to officially confirm that Illinois will be the next state after Missouri, Iowa and Louisiana with a few new screenshots[3], alongside the release of its Steam Store Page.[4]
  • 31 March 2025: A blog post about the team behind Illinois.[5]
  • 29 April 2025: A first blog post about Truck Stops in Illinois.[6]
  • 21 May 2025: A blog post about the city of Marion, located in southern Illinois.[7]
  • 12 June 2025: A blog post about the city of Rockford, located in northern Illinois.[8]
  • 4 July 2025: A blog post about the city of Quincy, a gem city located in western Illinois.[9]
  • 23 July 2025: A "Guess Where We Are" blog post about real-life places in Illinois captured for the DLC.[10]
  • 18 August 2025: A second blog post about Truck Stops in Illinois.[11]
  • 19 September 2025: A blog post about the city of Moline, one of the important part of the Quad Cities in Illinois.[12]
  • 23 October 2025: A blog post about the city of Peoria, located in central Illinois, on the banks of the Illinois River.[13]
  • 12 November 2025: A blog post about the city of Champaign, nestled right in the heart of Illinois.[14]
  • 5 December 2025: A blog post about the prairies and the fields in Illinois.[15]
  • 6 January 2026: A blog post about the city of Bloomington, the heart of central Illinois.[16]
