Euro Truck Simulator 2 - West Balkans is a map expansion DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. It is the eighth map of DLC involving map expansions. It was released on October 19, 2023, 11 years after the base game was released.
The DLC adds 8 new countries of the Western Balkans region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia).
It was also the fourth eastern map expansion after Beyond the Baltic Sea, Going East! and Road to the Black Sea, and the second Balkan expansion after the latter DLC.
Release History[]
SCS Software first hinted about the DLC in a blog post to celebrate of the Easter Day posted on 15 April 2022. After that, SCS released information about the DLC in their blog, at about one blog post per month:
- 14 November 2021: The 1.43 Open Beta added in editor_data.sii file references to balkan2 and mentions a prototype related to the city of Zadar, Croatia.[2]
- 15 April 2022: SCS Software makes a blog post promoting an egg hunt for the community on the occasion of the Easter Day. SCS hide the eggs around various SCS Software related websites and social media pages. Each egg was the countries flag of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.[3]
- 17 April 2022: SCS Software in their Instagram profile, make a post wishing for the whole community a Happy Easter and a new egg as part of the egg hunt appears hidden in the image, showing the Slovenian flag.[4]
- 5 June 2022: First official blog post revealing the name of the expansion with more new screenshots[5] and the release of its Steam Store page.[6]

- 20 December 2022: New screenshots were revealed in the SCS Christmas Stream, which showcased the Pelješac Bridge in southern Croatia, the Moračica Bridge in Montenegro and some other places in the West Balkans.[11]

- 8 February 2023: SCS Software shared a image on their social media accounts thanking the 50,000 Followers on their Twitch channel.[13] Members of the community identify the screenshot location is in Trieste, an Italian city which is located close to the Slovenian border.[14]
