Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Nordic Horizons is an upcoming map expansion DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. It will be the tenth map of DLC involving map expansions when it releases.
The DLC will be featuring the continuation of Norway, Sweden and Finland, initially introduced in the Scandinavia and Beyond the Baltic Sea map expansion DLCs respectively.
Release History[]
- Early 2022: The game file europe_bgn.dds is updated. The map highlights 27 cities in Norway and Sweden north of the Scandinavia DLC.
- 20 December 2022: In the 2022 SCS Christmas Stream, the team reveals some real-life photographs of moose, roe deer, a Border Crossing on the E10 road at the border with Sweden, and a group of team members from SCS Software at Nordkapp and an entrance sign of Norway in Bokmål and Northern Sámi languages, respectively written as Norge and Norga.[1]
- 19 October 2023: In the West Balkans DLC release stream, SCS Software CEO Pavel Šebor confirms that a Northern map expansion is in development.
- 31 October 2023: Models with the tag poc are found in the game files, presumed to belong to this expansion.[2]
- 3 November 2023: A changelog about the 1.49.0.11 update (open beta) accidentally includes changes regarding the road between Storuman and Arvidsjaur. It is removed in an edit shortly after the post is made.[3]
- 19 December 2023: The 2023 Christmas live stream confirms the inclusion of Finland, and six additional cities.
- 26 January 2024: A blog post to officially reveal the name of the expansion with more new screenshots[4], alongside the release of its Steam Store page.[5]
- 12 March 2024: A "Guess Where We Are" blog post about regions and in Finland, Norway and Sweden.[6]
- 22 May 2024: A "Nordic Horizons Research Trip" post was posted on the Steam page for both the DLC and the main game.[7]
- 11 June 2024: A blog post about new assets in the Nordic Horizons.[8]
- 16 July 2024: A blog post about Pavel, the map designer who designed the Nordic Horizons' natures and mountains.[9]
- 16 August 2024: A blog post about the city of Rovaniemi in Finland, which is Santa Claus' official hometown.[10]
- 14 September 2024: A blog post about the city of Bodø in Norway.[11]

- 13 August 2025: A blog post about the city of Kiruna in northern Sweden, known for its underground ore mine.[25]
- 23 August 2025: An "In Case You Missed It" blog post, alongside the exclusive trailer of the DLC for the "Find Your Next Game Show", which had been uploaded on SCS' official YouTube channel.[26]
- 12 September 2025: A blog post about the first Nordic Horizons Gameplay preview which has been uploaded to SCS' official YouTube channel.[27]
- 26 September 2025: A blog post about a 113 years-old wooden church in Kiruna, built between 1909 and 1912, that was relocated due to the mine's ongoing expansion.[28]
- 9 October 2025: A blog post about the city of Ålesund in Norway.[29]
- 18 October 2025: A blog post about the fjords and mountains in the Nordic Horizons.[30]
- 22 October 2025: A blog post about the custom depots in the Nordic Horizons, which will also debut the dynamic cargo (un)loading feature for ETS2.[31]
- 23 October 2025: 4 (four) Nordic Horizons-specific Steam achievements were added to ETS2 database.[32]
- 29 October 2025: A blog post about the second Nordic Nordic Horizons Gameplay preview which has been uploaded to SCS' official YouTube channel.[33]

Currently, about 50 cities are known to be featured in the DLC. The capitals of the countries (Helsinki in Finland, Oslo in Norway and Stockholm in Sweden) have been featured in the Scandinavia and Beyond the Baltic Sea map expansion DLCs respectively.
