In SCS Software's truck simulation games, they have a simulated economy, and several different variables that go into the calculation of how much value is assigned to a cargo based on your skills, what ADR or other special properties a cargo has, what market you are driving for (freight or cargo), and other factors.

Load Payout Calculation[]

Besides some small variances, both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 (as of the 1.40 update) use an identical method for calculating what a given load will pay you under specific variables. The method is[1]:

Base Reward[]

First, a base reward is given to be used in other calculations. The base reward is given as

Units of cargo * Revenue_per_km_base (See below) * Original route length (km) * (.67 for Quick Job, .9 for Freight Market or 1 for External/Cargo Market load)

Note: On the end job screen, this number is displayed with a fixed reward added on. It is $350 for Quick Jobs or $600 for others. Any other calculation done here does not include this.

Proficiency Bonus[]

This is the lowest of; either the base reward, or base reward * (.015 on ETS2 or .01 on ATS) * player level

In other words, the proficiency bonus is capped at the base reward beyond player levels 67 and 100 in ETS2 and ATS respectively.

Distance Bonus[]

This is calculated based on what long distance skill category the load route length falls under, multiplied by the base reward.

Valuable Bonus[]

This is only given if the cargo is marked Valuable. If so, then the reward is base reward * .05 * High-Value Cargo skill level.

Fragile Bonus[]

If this is a Fragile type of load, then this bonus is base reward * .05 * Fragile Cargo skill level.

Urgency Bonus[]

If the load is marked Standard delivery, then no bonus is given. If the load is marked Important or Urgent, then the bonus is base reward * (.03 if important or .05 if urgent) * Just-In-Time Delivery skill level.

Total Revenue[]

The final, total revenue is: fixed reward + base reward + proficiency bonus + distance bonus + valuable bonus + fragile bonus + urgency bonus

Euro Truck Simulator 2[]

As of update 1.40, several different values are set to calculate a cargo's price per distance:

  • Revenue_per_km_base: 15 The base revenue per km in game native currency.
  • Cargo_damage_cost: 5.0 5 euros (game native currency?) are subtracted per 1% of damage
  • Cargo_damage_cost_factor: 0.04 -4% total cost penalty per 1% of damage
  • Fixed_revenue: 600 (The starting native currency paid for a cargo delivery?)
  • Revenue_coef_per_km: 0.9 Revenue coefficient per km used during freight market jobs. (Jobs are devalued by 10%)
  • Cargo_market_revenue_coef_per_km: 1.0 Revenue coefficient per km used during External market jobs. (Maximum value/no modification)
  • Long distance bonus reward: 0.05
  • Valuable bonus reward: 0.05
  • Fragile bonus reward: 0.05
  • Urgent bonus reward: 0.05
  • Player level bonus reward: 0.015
