Trivia[]
- Drekkar in Icelandic means Drinking.
- However, the drekkar term is the generic name by which they are known the Viking vessels whose main characteristic a dragon head at the bow, the combination of sails and oars, navigation both in depth as shallow and used for transporting soldiers, goods and the achievements. Used to designate this type of vessel, though widespread, it is of recent origin, according to the French etymologist Alain Rey; would have appeared in 1840 from the Swedish term Drakar (Dragon), plural drake, this very similar to Old Norse Dreki. The Nordic term for these vessels was long skip (longship) as opposed to the Knorr, shorter and wider.
- It is possible that the logo is a reference to the real company Norsk Hydro, which logo once depicted a white viking ship on a blue background.
