The world consists of various countries, which are locations in Truck Simulator games. Countries are the primary groups of locations in Euro Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Euro Truck Simulator series[]
Euro Truck Simulator[]
In Euro Truck Simulator, players must choose their "starting country". Once chosen, they can only access countries belonging to the same group as their choice (there's only one truck dealer in each group of countries). If players wish to expand their access to other countries, they must pay a fee (ranging from €30,000 to €52,000), and they can only expand to countries connected to those they already have access.
Another difference between countries is that the fuel price varies between countries.

Euro Truck Simulator 2[]
With Euro Truck Simulator 2, Luxembourg and Slovakia were added to the game, while Spain and Portugal were omitted, as well as a major part of France and Italy. The map, on the other hand, became more detailed, and new cities were added to most countries.
Seven map expansions have been released for Euro Truck Simulator 2, which expand specific countries or add new ones:
- Going East!: Includes the rest of Poland, Czechia and Slovakia, and Hungary.
- Scandinavia: Includes Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
- Vive la France ! : Includes the rest of France, new roads in southeast of northern Italy.
- Italia: Includes the rest of Italy.
- Beyond the Baltic Sea: Includes all the three Baltic state (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), the Southern Finland and a small area of the Northwestern Russian Federation.
- Road to the Black Sea: Includes Romania, Bulgaria and the European part of Türkiye (Eastern Thrace / Doğu Trakya).
- Iberia: Includes Spain and Portugal.
- Heart of Russia: Another area of the Northwestern Russian Federation will be expanded.
- West Balkans: Includes Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia.
- Greece: Greece will be added.
- Nordic Horizons: Another area of Finland, Norway and Sweden will be expanded.
The country restriction is removed in Euro Truck Simulator 2, meaning that a fee is no longer required to gain access to other countries. The fuel price differences, however, remains.

Trivia[]
- In Euro Truck Simulator 2, the Italian cities of Ancona, Bologna, Genova and Roma were originally planned to be included in the base game, but were omitted in the finished game due to time constraints. Those 4 cities are included in the Italia DLC instead.
